The Meridians

Meridians are energetic highways in the human body that allows for the flow of energy or “Qi” throughout the body and it’s organs.

Central Meridian

Known as the Conception Vessel or “Sea of Yin.” Runs up the center of the body from the pubic bone to just below the bottom lip.

Circulation Sex

Protects the heart both physically and emotionally. Governs circulation and hormones (testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone). Helps to energetically connect with love and sex.

Liver Meridian

Supports the free flow of energy throughout the eyes and the body. Assists with controlling the tendons, and manifests in the nails. Used in treatment and diagnosis of general Liver function issues.

Spleen Meridian

Responsible for the transformation and transportation of food, blood, and Qi. Directly influences and is reflected by the tone and condition of muscle tissue.

Kidney Meridian

Known as the body’s energy “powerhouse.” Works to keep the yin and yang energies in balance. Assists with the regulation of bodily fluids. Closely associated with the healthy transitioning of each of life’s stages.

Governing Meridian

Known as the Governing Vessel, or “Sea of Yang.” Runs up the center of your body from your coccyx (tail bone), over the top of your head to just beneath your nose.

Lung Meridian

Governs the breath and produces oxygen for cells. Defends the exterior surface of the body, protecting it against outside pathogens including excess wind, heat or dampness. Controls the flow of Qi in all meridians. Connects the mind to the body through breathing.

Gall Bladder

Works in conjunction with the liver. Regulates the flow of bile. Assists with decision making, judgement, and courage.

Large Intestine

Corresponds to “organization and transportation.” Governs the digestion of nutrients and life experiences. Closely associated with the lung and skin. Detoxifying.

Bladder Meridian

Yang organ paired with the Kidney (yin organ). Tonifies the kidneys and benefit Essence and so tonify the whole body. Intimately related to the autonomic nervous system. Assists in the regulation of our “fight or flight” response.

Heart Meridian

Yin meridian channel that connects to the small intestine meridian. Governs emotion, mind, and is the seat of the soul.

Triple Warmer

Controls our fight, flight, and freeze response. Controls metabolism and assists with digestion and waste processing. Intimately connected with the immune system, endocrine system, and lymphatic system.

Stomach Meridian

Known as the “Sea of Nourishment.” Governs digestion. Coordinates with the spleen to help transport Qi to the lungs. Associated with our ability to assimilate new ideas and absorb information, as well as honoring and nurturing the self.

Yang Meridian paired with the Heart (yin) Meridian. Expresses movement downward. Influences the function of the pituitary gland. Assists with the separation of purities from impurities.
